Too expensive, too complicated: It is often said that transforming offices into apartments is not profitable. The reassignment of the old Thyssen site in Düsseldorf shows that such projects can work. What can we learn from it?
The layout of the buildings of this residential complex on the Grafenberger Allee in the east of Düsseldorf is unusual: several semicircles that touch each other and give way to round interior courtyards. For this reason alone, the seven-story complex stands out among all the understated, square and functional office buildings that surround it. The residential complex is called “Living Circle”.
