Robot ethicist Kate Darling on the relationship between humans and robots, robot rights, and when machines will take over the world.
By Kathrin Werner
Kate Darling is an ethicist and robot fanatic. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology Media Lab researcher grew up in Switzerland, but can only speak about her work in English. She can’t think of words in German. She has a number of robots at home, but no animals. Three of them are Pleos, cute baby robot dinosaurs who squirm happily when stroked.
