Railway – train drivers’ union continues strike – economy

The strike by the German Train Drivers’ Union (GDL) at Deutsche Bahn continued unabated over the weekend. Passengers again had to be prepared for many train cancellations and delays. In Thuringia and Saxony it was the last travel weekend before the start of the new school year. The strike is still concentrated in the Länder of eastern Germany and in some metropolitan areas, the railway said. According to the company, about one in three long-distance trains could run on weekends, he said. In the first two days of the strike in passenger traffic, Thursday and Friday, it was only one in four.
