The construction of a rocket launch site in the North Sea is taking shape.
On Monday, several European rocket manufacturers will sign cooperation agreements with the German planning consortium Offshore Spaceport Alliance in Berlin. As the invitation of the BDI trade association shows, Federal Minister of Economic Affairs Peter Altmaier (CDU) will also be speaking there. According to reports, however, there will be no commitment on his part regarding funding. The commitment to a launch site in the North Sea “is an important initiative”, there is now an intermediate result, according to the ministry only. The initiators are trying not to turn the project into a German solo effort. Besides RFA Augsburg and Hyimpulse, the manufacturers are said to be two companies from other European countries.
