Nord Stream 2: Intermediate success for the gas pipeline
In the dispute over the Nord Stream 2 pipeline with the EU, pipeline operator Gazprom achieved intermediate success. An adviser to the Supreme Court of the European Union questioned a decision of the second highest court in the EU on Wednesday. The decision of the General Court of the European Union in May 2020 was incorrect and should be negotiated again, recommended Advocate General Michal Bobek. Basically, the dispute concerns the application or not of the European directive on natural gas, which was amended in 2019. The guideline stipulates that gas pipelines between the EU and third countries must be subject to the requirements of the European regulations.
