Mahle: Arleth will be the new boss
Matthias Arleth becomes the new boss of the automotive supplier Mahle. The 53-year-old will take over the chairmanship of the Stuttgart-based company from January 1, 2022, as the founding company announced on Thursday. The automotive technology engineer was until recently vice chairman of the board of directors of automotive supplier Webasto.
At Mahle, CFO Michael Frick temporarily took over as CEO after Jörg Stratmann’s unexpected resignation in March.
“With Matthias Arleth, we have acquired both a recognized expert for product development in future technologies and a cohesive driver of transformation processes to prepare Mahle for the future,” said Heinz K. Junker, Chairman of the Board monitoring of Mahle. For a long time, Mahle made its money mainly from filters, pistons and pumps for the combustion engine, but with the increased shift of many car manufacturers to electric mobility, this is no longer a viable area of business. The group had posted a small profit in the first half for the first time since 2018, but sales were still below pre-Corona levels. The Stuttgart-based group with around 72,000 employees achieved a turnover of 5.66 billion euros for the period from January to the end of June.
