Online retailer Amazon is expanding its network of logistics locations in Germany. Amazon announced the opening of eight more logistics and distribution centers by mid-2022. This would create 3,000 additional jobs. Amazon currently operates 17 major logistics centers and over 30 other logistics sites across Germany. About 19,000 people work for the company in this field. The new logistics center locations are in Dummerstorf (Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania), Gattendorf bei Hof (Bavaria) and Helmstedt (Lower Saxony), while the distribution centers are in Neu-Ulm (Bavaria), Friedrichsdorf, Weiterstadt ( both Hesse) and Wenden (North Rhine-Westphalia). There is also a new sorting center in Erding near Munich. While goods are stored and packaged in logistics centers, packages are made available in distribution centers for delivery to customers.
