Lars von Lackum welcomes you to the administrative district of Düsseldorf: In addition to the headquarters of the real estate company LEG, the tax office and a resident trade union foundation. No wonder, since the Landesentwicklungsgesellschaft (LEG) belonged to the Land of North Rhine-Westphalia until 2008. Von Lackum now runs a listed company which rents 145,000 apartments. If the largest German real estate companies Vonovia and Deutsche Wohnen soon merge, LEG will become Germany’s second-largest private owner – a profitable but controversial company.
