Hurricane – BASF interrupts production – economy

BASF has suspended production in the US state of Louisiana due to Hurricane Ida. The Geismar Verbund site, the chemical company’s largest production plant in North America, as well as North Geismar and Vidalia are affected. As soon as the storm is over, security personnel will check the sites before operations resume, a BASF spokesperson said on Monday. The company employs approximately 2,000 people in Louisiana. More than a million people in the state have been without power since Ida crossed the country.
