Group of the Greens – criticism of the premium for the scrapping of trucks – economy

The state has spent a good 60 million euros as part of the premium for the scrapping of trucks. As of July 1, 2021, 59.6 million euros for new diesel trucks and an additional 2.6 million euros for gasoline trucks had been requested, according to a response from the federal government to a request from the parliamentary group of the Greens. As a result, there were no payments for electric or hydrogen powered or fuel cell powered trucks. The Germany editorial network had previously reported the figures. In November 2020, the federal government announced multibillion-dollar new aid to help the German auto industry weather the Corona crisis and accelerate the shift to more climate-friendly vehicles. This included a new Truck Scrap bonus to get old utility vehicles off the road and boost sales of newer models. “Instead of investing in climate protection, 100% of tax money goes into fossil-fueled technologies that have no future,” criticizes Matthias Gastel, traffic expert for the Greens parliamentary group .
