US economic growth picked up somewhat in the spring. The gross domestic product (GDP) of the United States grew in the second quarter of the year extrapolated by 6.6%, as the Department of Commerce in Washington announced Thursday in a second estimate. In a first estimate, a slightly lower growth of 6.5 percent was determined. US economic growth accelerated slightly compared to the first quarter. During this period, the economy grew by revised 6.3 percent. Since US growth figures are traditionally extrapolated to the year, they cannot be directly compared to European data. Such annualization does not exist in Europe.
