Financial industry – savings banks for rescue pool – economy

The general assembly of the German Association of Savings Banks and the Giro has approved the construction of a new rescue fund for institutes in difficulty. The financial sector governed by public law thus hosts the European Central Bank, from which such a money supply has been requested. “It was an intense discussion process within our group in which different justified interests were actively represented,” said DSGV President Helmut Schleweis. The next step is to present the results to the supervisory authorities. “We are optimistic that we will be able to conclude discussions with the ECB soon.”
