Emissions scandal – Audi is subject to BGH – Wirtschaft

Diesel’s plaintiffs have for the first time claimed damages from Audi over the VW EA189 engine scandal before the highest German civil court. The Federal Court of Justice on Thursday upheld four rulings from Munich’s higher regional court, which largely granted Audi buyers the money they had requested. The EA189 engine was developed by Volkswagen, but was also used in various models of the VW Audi subsidiary. In two previous cases, the BGH lacked concrete evidence that someone at Audi was aware of illegal exhaust technology. The Munich Higher Regional Court, on the other hand, came to the conclusion that it was unthinkable that at least one person responsible for Audi was aware of it. With the verdict of the judges of the BGH, the four judgments are now final.
