The former Wirecard boss is expected to stay in jail until a possible trial next year – at least. The Munich justice apparently does not want to risk that after Jan Marsalek, the second important suspect also flees.

Once Christmas, once Easter, once Pentecost. It’s been a hell of a long time – especially if you have to spend it in jail. In the penal institution (JVA) Augsburg-Gablingen, to be precise. And it looks like Markus Braun, Germany’s most famous VIP prisoner, will have to spend every big vacation there again. At least. The first year of detention should be followed by a second for the former CEO of the scandalous group Wirecard. At least this can be seen in the previous arrest warrants of the Munich Higher Regional Court (OLG) against Braun.
