Daimler and its largest shareholder Geely are keen to bring the Chinese-made Smart to market in the coming year. “We are making very good progress,” said Hubertus Troska, member of the board of directors of Daimler. Daimler previously sold the Hambach Smart plant in eastern France to British off-road vehicle maker Ineos. In September, a study of the new Smart was presented to the IAA – the small car became an SUV.
