Consumer protection – be careful with tablet offers – economy

Consumer advocates advise being especially careful when contracts have to be signed with a signature on a tablet. “Actually, I could read the contract and come back here too. Nobody does that, especially not when the seller is impatient and the next customer is waiting behind me,” said Federal Consumers Association chairman Klaus Müller . Consumers are always surprised by what they have signed up for. Müller therefore offers a right of withdrawal for such contracts – similar to e-commerce, where a purchase can be terminated up to 14 days after completion. Consumers always treated paper differently from digitally presented contracts, Müller said. It respects technical innovations in retail. “But that should go hand in hand with more consumer rights and a possibility of revocation.” Until now, “signed is signed” was valid in the store
