Combustion output – DUH sued automobile manufacturer – economy

German Environmental Aid (DUH) wants to force automakers BMW and Mercedes-Benz to phase out combustion by 2030 through legal action. The association announced that this was the first time it had filed climate action against German companies. The complaints were therefore submitted to the competent regional courts in Munich and Stuttgart. The association demands from BMW and Mercedes-Benz “the ecological reconversion of their companies, in particular by drastically reducing the CO₂ emissions of their vehicles in accordance with the binding regulations of the Paris Agreement on climate protection and the German law on climate protection ”. The DUH had previously demanded a cease and desist declaration from automakers by Monday and threatened with legal action. BMW first referred to a response that had already been sent to DUH, in which the alleged request for environmental aid was rejected.
