Due to semiconductor delivery issues, automaker Ford has to shut down production again. There have been corona-related failures at a semiconductor manufacturer in Malaysia, leading to delivery issues at a door module supplier, a Ford spokesperson said. Production of the Fiesta in Cologne had already been suspended from early May to mid-July due to semiconductor problems; It was not until Monday that the workforce returned to the production halls after their month-long leave from work to resume assembly of the Fiesta small cars. Semiconductor supply issues are currently causing problems for the entire automotive industry, and other manufacturers have had to shut down production in the meantime due to a lack of components. Ford has around 15,000 employees in Cologne, of which 5,000 are in the production of the Fiesta.
