Ceramics – New investors for Ceramtec – Economy

The Swabian industrial ceramics group Ceramtec obtains a new co-owner and is valued by him according to financial circles at 3.8 billion euros. The company in Plochingen near Stuttgart will now be owned equally by the Canadian pension fund Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) and investment firm BC Partners, as the new owners announced on Tuesday. BC Partners remains involved, but reinvested via a new fund. With around 3,500 employees, Ceramtec manufactures ceramic components for artificial hips and dental implants, but also for industrial applications such as car batteries. Last year the turnover amounted to 553 million euros. The company has already passed into the hands of several financial investors.
