Niels Nauhauser, who has worked in consumer protection for 17 years, already knows the game. “It’s always the same,” he says. “In recent years, case law has repeatedly shown that banks are acting illegally and thus have collected money.” But not much happened after that. “Unfortunately, the legal consequence has never been that they then willingly and quickly refunded too much money to their clients.” There will be “blocked, walled up, blocked or simply, the judgment does not apply to us”, explains the financial expert from the Baden-Württemberg consumer advice center.
