Banks – Verdi threatens warning strikes – economy

In the round of collective bargaining for state and development banks, Verdi threatens warning strikes. In the second round, the employers “called for drastic cuts in the incomes of bank employees,” the union announced Thursday. Verdi’s negotiator Jan Duschck referred to a “clear declaration of war” to the employees: “We must expect that we will now call very soon for the first warning strikes”. On the table is – also according to the German Association of Bank Employees (DBV) – a proposal from employers to abolish wage increases based on professional experience. Verdi calculated that, based on the previous system, this would mean a loss of income of up to 900 euros per month. The DBV also clarified: “We will not authorize the abolition of the annual career scale, as suggested by the employer.
