Species-appropriate meat production is possible, as Ernst Hermann Maier’s farm shows. Authorities forbade him to kill his cattle as he wanted – but then he had an idea.

In the midday heat, the cattle lay down under the large roof in the shade. They doze on thick straw mattresses and pay little attention to the curious looking inside. Old cows with expansive horns and impressive curves that show: I am a person to be respected. Strong bulls, offspring of all ages and, somewhat isolated on a wall, a newborn calf. Ernst Hermann Maier rides with him in the stable, strokes it and takes care of his mother.
