If you wanted to escape the adversity of everyday British life this week, you had to go to Manchester. There, at the Conservative Party convention, a program was staged that had little to do with the reality of the country. A prime minister has taken the stage, hiding everything that worries his compatriots at the moment: no gasoline at gas stations, massively rising gasoline bills and empty supermarket shelves.
